SNOWSTORM

1 liter Vodka

10 Lemons

2 Limes

1 cup Sugar

 

Pour Vodka into blender. Squeeze lemons and limes into blender. Add sugar and ice.

Blend until slushy.

Mocha Floats

Ingredients
3 cups water
1/4 cup presweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons instant coffee crystals
Vanilla ice cream
Chocolate ice cream
Whipped cream
Chocolate curls (optional)

Directions
1. In a medium saucepan, bring water to boiling. Remove from heat. Stir
in cocoa powder, sugar, and coffee crystals. Stir till dissolved. Cover
and refrigerate 4 to 24 hours.

2. For each serving, place about 1/3 cup chilled mocha mixture into an
8- to 10-ounce drinking glass. Add a scoop each of vanilla and chocolate
ice cream. Stir till partially melted. Top each with whipped cream and
some chocolate curls, if you like. Makes about 10 servings.

Vanilla-Orange Kool-Aid Yogurt Float

Vanilla-Orange Kool-Aid Yogurt Float

This soda-fountain favorite is easy to make at home.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Makes: 4 (1 1/2-cup) servings

3/4 cup SPLENDA(r) No Calorie Sweetener, Granular or 18 SPLENDA(r) No Calorie
Sweetener, Packets
1 envelope Kool-Aid(r) Orange Flavor Unsweetened Soft Drink Mix
1 (1-liter) bottle quart seltzer water, chilled
2 cups reduced-fat vanilla frozen yogurt, divided

1. *COMBINE* SPLENDA(r) Granular or SPLENDA(r) Packets, KOOL-AID Soft
Drink Mix, and 1 cup of the seltzer in a pitcher, stirring until SPLENDA(r)
dissolves. Stir in remaining seltzer.
2. *POUR* 1 cup of the mixture into each of 4 tall glasses; top each
serving with 1/2 cup of the frozen yogurt. Serve immediately.

Almond Cappuccino

2 cups (500 ml) brewed coffee
1 cup (250 ml) evaporated skim milk
2 Tbs (30 ml) packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp (2 ml) vanilla extract
1/2 tsp (2 ml) almond extract

In a large saucepan, combine coffee, milk and sugar. Cook over
moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to
boil. Remove from heat and add extracts. Serves 4.

Red Wine Wassail

“Wassail” was originally a toast to one’s good health, and over
time came to represent the drink itself. There are as many versions
of this ancient beverage as their are sources, but they all contain
a spirit, beer, or wine, and spices. Here is a simple yet satisfying
version based on red wine.

Red Wine Wassail

2 cups (500 ml) water
1 cup (250 ml) honey
4 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 lemons, thinly sliced
1 750-ml bottle red wine

Boil the water, honey, cloves, and cinnamon for five minutes. Remove
from the heat, add the lemons, and allow to stand for 10 minutes.
Add the wine and heat slowly until just below the boiling point. Serve
hot. Serves 6.

Spiced Green Tea

The reputed health benefits of green tea have made it a popular
drink these days. If you are among the people who prefer soy
milk to the real thing, you can substitute it in this recipe with
excellent results.

Spiced Green Tea

2 cups (500 ml) milk
2 cups (500 ml) water
1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
1 tsp (5 ml) ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp (2 ml) ground ginger
4 bags green tea

In a medium saucepan over moderate heat, heat the water and
milk until they just begin to gently boil. Stir in the remaining
ingredients, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 3
minutes. Remove the tea bags and serve. Serves 4.

Kool-Aid Banana Smoothie

Ingredients
2 cups prepared sugar-sweetened black cherry, strawberry, or
punch-flavored soft drink mix
2 medium bananas, peeled and sliced
1 8-ounce carton vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon honey

Directions
1. Pour prepared drink mix into an ice cube tray. Freeze until firm.

2. Place bananas in a freezer container. Freeze until firm.

3. In a blender container, combine about half of the frozen drink mix
cubes, the frozen bananas, yogurt, and honey. Cover and blend until
smooth, gradually adding the remaining cubes and stopping to push into
the blender’s blades, as necessary. Makes four (8-ounce) servings.

FROZEN MARGARITAS

6 oz. Can of frozen limeade concentrate
6 oz. Tequila
2 oz. Triple Sec
6 oz. Lemon-lime soda
5 C Crushed ice
Lime slices
Margarita salt

Pour limeade concentrate, tequila, Triple Sec and soda into large plastic
container, and stir to mix. Fill blender with 5 cups crushed ice. Add
limeade mixture to ice in blender and blend until slushy. Pour into salt-
rimmed Margarita glasses. Garnish with lime slices.

Spiced Coffee Mix

1 cup instant coffee granules
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 t. ground cinnamon
Cinnamon sticks to garnish
Combine coffee granules, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a food processor;
process until well blended. Store in an airtight container. To serve,
stir 1 t. coffee mix into 6 oz. hot water. Garnish with a cinnamon
stick. Makes about 1 1/2 cups coffee mix.

Make-Believe Champagne

33 oz sparkling water; chilled
33 oz ginger ale; chilled
24 oz unsweetened white grape juice; chilled

In a punch bowl or large pitcher, combine carbonated water, ginger ale and grape juice. Serve over ice in chilled champagne or wine glasses or punch cups.

Makes 22 servings (4-ounce each)
